Globe-trotters and holidayers want to take back home – memories to cherish – of a fun-filled and stress-free holiday .
It’s only a few years now since I started travelling and going for a holiday abroad.
It is a combination of many factors that make a holiday a memorable one to cherish in our hearts.
I cherish memories of my holidays in Australia .
It’s a wonderful place of natural beauty – free of pollution of any sort
They are wonderful people, open-minded and bias-free and all-inclusive in all ways ,- free of class, creed, color, and other definitions as may be. They are always ready to help any tourist, or, in fact, anyone in need of it.
The law and order system and its administration are proactive and hence efficacious and supportive . Hence I feel very safe, even when I travel alone, any time of the day or night.
They have remarkable infrastructure such as good roads and commendable traffic control with latest technological support (for roads, in cars and everywhere), to avoid disorder or breach of law) as conducive to making daily life stress-free. There is hardly any fear of accidents due to over speeding, as people are very aware and responsible and responsive. And , in case of exceptions, if any, immediate action is taken so there is hardly any scope for insensitivity and callousness vis-a-vis different speed-limits for different zones, such as school-zone, pedestrian crossing , crowded market during festivals, etc.
They lead ‘quality lives of rich and lasting values such as dignity of labour and self-help .When I go for a walk,I see even elderly couples mowing the lawn, gardening, wheeling garbage bins in and out of the house to keep them out,on the scheduled day and at the scheduled time, for collection and disposal. At a very early age, children become independent and realize the value of self-dependence.
Personal hygiene and cleanliness are examples to emulate, especially as it’s not only the governing body or the authorities concerned, who take responsibility for a suburb or a city to be kept clean – everyone contributes. We don’t find garbage littered on the roads and in the public places such as a children’s park or in and around a restaurant or a fast food joint ‘on wheels’. Even the children are trained at a very early age to be responsible for waste disposal so as not to be a nuisance to the public.
In all the apartments in the city and the suburbs, pets are allowed. Every place is dog-friendly . And, those who have pets are equally responsible and empathetic to even those who may not like pets around. They take the responsibility of collecting the ‘poop’of their pets when they take them out for a run and disposing it as per the rules.
The awareness of all, including kids, about the ways to save the environment from pollution of any sort, is, indeed, commendable. One cannot find even a piece of paper or a crumb of bread lying around anywhere – not even around the garbage bins. Pedestrians and cyclists alike take care not to throw litter on their way and keep to their side and place of walking/cycling and parking, respectively. Trees are not allowed to be cut for building houses as legal approval needs to be taken before a building site is bought.
I am yet to hear a loudly-honking driver here for law doesn’t permit it.
The Traffic Control and the Road and Infrastructure officials as well as the Police are on their scheduled rounds round-the-clock. .
The buses, trams and the Metro Train are all capably managed, taking care of punctuality, cleanliness and contingency alternate services.
The medical services are very good. The patient’s immune system is given time to cure small ailments, which may not need immediate administration of antibiotics. This is possible as antibiotics are not available without a certified doctor’s prescription. (Ironically, it is another thing that if one is a tourist from a country where antibiotics can be bought at the counter, and where, a patient can meet a specialist directly, not going through the GP, as is mandatory here, his or her system may take time to activate the immune system to cure the minor ailments.)
The Day Care Centers here are so dependable and personal care is customised to the child’s needs, with support from the parents.
One of their greatest achievements that I have heard of is punctuality. Offices work from 10a. m. to 5 p.m . They don’t make it even a few minutes late to open and close offices, restaurants, etc.
I think all these are possible with the combined efforts of all citizens and the governing bodies including the city police, the traffic police etc. along with the strict administration of law and order.
The above may be the experiences for many of you ,who are born and brought up and live in such a place. But, to me, these are eye-openers as I have not travelled around much .
Even given that we can’t compare a developing country to a developed country, we cannot overrule the fact that most or all of these above are possible in a developing country as well.
It has been an enriching experience for me in Australia. I hope to travel widely and explore and take back great memories and lessons to learn for my people.
